LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY… May 30, 2023 – Lexington-based non-profit Community Ventures (CV) has announced additional funding provided by Truist for co-endeavors aimed at providing a variety of assistance to both low- and moderate-income home-owners and underserved small-business owners throughout Kentucky, as well as ongoing disaster assistance.
Through its Truist Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund at The Winston-Salem Foundation, Truist has granted funding that will bolster CV’s continuing disaster relief efforts undertaken in Western Kentucky immediately following the devastating tornado outbreak of December 2021. Prior Truist funding had furthered CV’s recent expansion into Southern and Western Kentucky by providing for services aimed at the creation of businesses owned by women- and ethnic-minority entrepreneurs in those regions.
“Truist had come alongside Community Ventures in our efforts to expand our business development services into Southern Kentucky prior to the tornados,” noted Brenda Weaver, President of Housing and Lending for Community Ventures. “Since the storms, a large part of our focus has been on providing housing solutions for people whose homes were destroyed, as well as providing support for the many businesses struggling to rebound. We are thankful that Truist is once again joining forces with us, providing funding that will further our efforts to help the communities most affected.”
In addition to providing support for CV’s Disaster Recovery Specialist who has been the ‘boots on the ground’ helping residents and business owners navigate the myriad disaster relief programs, apply for assistance and restart their lives and businesses, Truist funding will help to expand consumer and small business lending programs by providing for loan loss reserves as CV continues to identify households and businesses in need of responsible, affordable lending programs in order to rebuild.
