Revitalizing Millersburg with Restoration and Opportunity
In 2020, Mustard Seed Hill in Millersburg, Kentucky embarked on a $13.87 million revitalization project, bolstered by a $7 million commitment from the New Markets Tax Credit program, with Capital One Bank serving as the primary investor. This ambitious project continues the restoration and renovation of the historic Mustard Seed Hill campus, transforming it into a vibrant hub for business and community development in Kentucky’s Bluegrass Region.
The restored campus now hosts a diverse range of amenities, including a business incubator, commercial kitchen, corporate meeting spaces, an event hall, and lodging. Mustard Seed Hill serves as a premier special event and meeting venue, positioned on 14 acres of picturesque land, aiming to attract 110,000 unique visitors by 2021.
Located in a small, severely distressed community of less than 850 residents, Millersburg faces an unemployment rate of 16.2%. The Mustard Seed Hill project is designed to invigorate the local economy by creating jobs and driving tourism. The campus also includes an entrepreneurship center, offering tailored training and technical assistance to new and expanding hospitality businesses, further enhancing economic growth.
