For 15 years, Bullock Family Chiropractic (BFC) has been providing affordable quality service to families in Lexington and Central Kentucky. Assisted by Community Ventures, Jacob and Michele Bullock purchased a building to serve as a permanent home for the Bullock Family Chiropractic and to help achieve their financial goals.
“We bought the building to be the future home of Bullock Family Chiropractic. We were tired of renting and having to deal with the issues that come with that. It’s also just a smart decision financially in the long term.” says Michele who serves as the Office Manager for BFC.
Michele’s husband, Jacob serves as the chiropractor at BFC. As a young boy, Jacob faced serious health concerns and visited several specialists with no luck in finding help. He eventually found a chiropractor that saved his life and from that moment, he knew he wanted to be a chiropractor and make miracles happen for others.
Last October, the Bullock family began working with Park Community Credit Union and was introduced to Community Ventures’ Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending, Lynn Littrell. Lynn assisted with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) portion of the process and helped the Bullock family close on their new building space with SBA in July. The SBA is the only cabinet-level federal agency fully dedicated to small business and provides counseling, capital, and contracting expertise as the nation’s only go-to resource and voice for small businesses. Since its founding, the SBA has delivered millions of loans, loan guarantees, contracts, counseling sessions and other forms of assistance to small businesses.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, BFC shut down for five weeks. Because of their loyal clientele, membership base, and low costs, they did not have to face any cancellations or trouble maintaining their family business. They were able to carry forward and continue helping families improve their quality of life. “I think everything went well for us during this pandemic with the way our business is set up. We are thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve others. Being able to work together has given us flexibility for our kids activities. I also get to see the lives changed in the office firsthand which is awesome. Both of our kids are also planning to be chiropractors,” says Michele.
Community Ventures is proud to be able to assist the Bullock family with finding a permanent space to continue serving families in the Lexington and Central Kentucky community. We admire the story of growth and optimism from the Bullock family and others like them.
