FULTON, KY. (October 24, 2023) – Community Ventures (CV) today announced that the nonprofit was awarded over $2.5 million from the Kentucky Housing Corporation’s (KHC) Rural Housing Trust Fund (RHTF) to repair existing homes and build new homes in Western Kentucky.
“Western Kentucky was hit hard by tornadoes in 2021, and we are working hard to help our Kentucky neighbors rebuild their communities,” said Brenda Weaver, CV’s President of Lending and Western Kentucky Disaster Recovery. “The homeownership and business ownership dreams of Kentuckians is our mission, and we are thankful to the Kentucky Housing Corporation and the Rural Housing Trust Fund Advisory Committee for awarding us funds to restore Western Kentucky communities one home at a time.”
In 2022, Community Ventures expanded homeownership services to Western Kentucky to help the region recover from the devastating tornados that struck the area in December of 2021. This month, the nonprofit, in partnership with the City of Fulton, the City of South Fulton, Fulton County, Fulton County Detention Center, and the Fulton-Hickman Counties Economic Development Partnership, completed construction on the second new home to be built in Fulton since 2008.
CV plans to use the $2,596,322 in funding from the RHTF Advisory Committee to continue to support the nonprofit’s affordable housing initiatives in Western Kentucky.
The nonprofit was one of two organizations awarded funding by KHC to rebuild homes in Western Kentucky.
During the 2023 Legislative session, the General Assembly created the RHTF fund and allocated $20 million in State Aid Funding for Emergencies (SAFE) to aid communities impacted by disasters in recovering economically.
