MILLERSBURG, KY. (November 7, 2024) – American Water Charitable Foundation awarded a grant to non-profit Community Ventures for the development of a splash pad, which is one component of the renovation of the Town Square Park in Millersburg, Kentucky.
“Healthy communities need gathering places where residents can gather and play, and over the years the town square has fallen into disrepair, making the sidewalks unwalkable to many of the elderly in the community,” said Community Ventures CEO Kevin Smith.” “Bettering this community and its residents would not be possible without the generous support of American Water Charitable Foundation. I am grateful for their support.”
On Monday, October 14, Millersburg city officials, local leaders, citizens, and representatives from American Water Charitable Foundation, CMW Architects, and Community Ventures gathered at the town square for a groundbreaking ceremony to launch the renovation.
“The Town Square Park Project is essential for Millersburg’s revitalization efforts. The park is centrally located in our business district,” said Millersburg Mayor Julie Hopkins. “We are working to restore our buildings and improve our park, breathing new life into the town square. The water features and seating surrounding this attraction will give residents a much-needed place to gather and socialize. The City of Millersburg is committed to preserving our past and enhancing the lives of our community by planning for our future.”
The Town Square Park renovation will increase the quality of life for residents by providing a public gathering space with handicap accessible sidewalks around the perimeter of the park, repaired fencing, landscaping, walking tracks, a water fountain, and a splash pad.
The American Water Charitable Foundation is committed to investing in communities served by American Water, including Kentucky American Water, which provides water and wastewater services in Millersburg. The Foundation is proud to partner with Community Ventures to support this revitalization effort, which will help ensure children and families can engage with water, an essential natural resource, in a fun and enjoyable way,” said Carrie Williams, President of the American Water Charitable Foundation.
