Millersburg, KY — Emmy winning composer, renowned cellist, and proud Kentuckian Ben Sollee will perform at the historic Mustard Seed Hill on December 13th at 7 PM as part of its annual Christmas celebration. Presented by Community Ventures, this concert underscores the vital role of the arts in fostering vibrant, resilient communities. Community Ventures, a Kentucky-based nonprofit committed to building stronger communities through innovation and investment, is thrilled to host Ben Sollee in this unique setting. Mustard Seed Hill, a restored landmark in Millersburg, embodies the harmony of heritage and progress—values mirrored in Sollee’s music and Community Ventures’ mission.
“For us, this event is more than just a concert; it’s a testament to the power of the arts to strengthen the fabric of our communities,” said Kevin Smith, President & CEO of Community Ventures. “Ben’s music captures the spirit of collaboration, tradition, and creativity that drives both our work and the revitalization of places like Millersburg.”
A Lexington native, Sollee is celebrated for his genre-defying sound and commitment to storytelling through music. His approach, rooted in Kentucky’s musical traditions, blends elements of bluegrass, jazz, and classical styles, creating a tapestry of sound as rich as the communities he represents. “As a Kentuckian, performing in a place like Millersburg is deeply inspiring,” Sollee shared. “You can feel the quilt of community here, the threads that bind people together. It’s the same spirit I try to capture in my music—investing in people and creating something beautiful together.”
Sollee’s recent album, Long Haul, reflects his personal journey of resilience and growth, themes echoed in Millersburg’s revitalization efforts. His performance at Mustard Seed Hill will feature songs from the album, along with holiday favorites imbued with the spirit of the season. “Performing during the holidays is special,” Sollee said. “There’s a sense of nostalgia and togetherness in the air, and I’m excited to share that with the audience at Mustard Seed Hill. It’s a place where tradition and progress meet, much like the music I create.”
Through this partnership, Community Ventures and Sollee aim to highlight the transformative power of the arts in building connections and fostering a sense of belonging. From the rich history of Mustard Seed Hill to the enduring impact of Sollee’s music, the evening promises to be a celebration of Kentucky’s heritage and its bright future.
