Creating Housing, Strengthening Economically Distressed Communities

LEXINGTON, KY. (May 31, 2024) – This June, during National Homeownership Month, Community Ventures (CV) celebrates NeighborWorks Week, June 1- 8, 2024, remembering the support of NeighborWorks America (NeighborWorks). In 2023, NeighborWorks supported Kentuckians by funding CV’s homeownership and business ownership programs, strengthening and revitalizing economically distressed communities.

“Kentucky has significant housing needs, and NeighborWorks America is investing dollars with Kentucky organizations like Community Ventures that are creating housing solutions,” said Community Ventures CEO Kevin Smith. “We are grateful for their commitment to bettering the lives of Kentuckians and look forward to continuing to partner with them to create more affordable housing opportunities.”

Thanks to the support of NeighborWorks, in 2023, CV supported Kentuckians by repairing 61 homes, assisting 42 Kentuckians in becoming homeowners, renting 72 homes, and providing housing counseling to 8,774 Kentuckians.

In 2023, Community Ventures also used funding from NeighborWorks to deliver homeownership and business ownership services, aid Western Kentucky in recovering from the devastating tornados of 2021, and begin working with the West Paris community to develop housing solutions.

NeighborWorks Week began in 1983 with a United States congressional resolution co-sponsored by more than 240 members of Congress and was signed by President Ronald Reagan.
