LEXINGTON KY. (October 1, 2024) – The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) awarded an Economic Development Partnership Services grant to the Women’s Business Center of Kentucky (WBC) to support the growth of women or minority-owned small businesses.
These funds will allow aspiring women-owned and minority-owned entrepreneurs and small business owners to receive training, business coaching, access to financing, and resources to start a business provided by WBC.
With these funds, the WBC will be able to increase the number of registered small businesses, create jobs, and enhance the business skills within the community by providing small business owners and entrepreneurs with access to free one-on-one confidential business counseling, 12 annual business builder workshops, WBC online learning platform, Strong Women Strong Coffee networking events, and an annual Women in Business Expo.
“For 13 years, WBC has been helping women entrepreneurs, especially those who are economically or socially disadvantaged, to start and grow businesses in Kentucky,” said Devanny King Executive Director of the Women’s Business Center of Kentucky. “We are grateful to Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government for this funding, and we look forward to working alongside aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners to help them achieve their business dreams.”

It makes sense for us to support them, and help level the playing field.”
