Creating 19 New Jobs in Grantsville, West Virginia
In 2023, the former Calhoun High School in Grantsville, West Virginia began its transformation into a 45,186 sq. ft. community hub, thanks to an $8.4 million renovation project supported by $7.5 million in New Markets Tax Credit funds. Regions Bank served as the primary investor for this initiative, which aims to revitalize the area by providing essential services and creating jobs.
The new Calhoun Community Center will house a daycare facility for up to 50 children, offering a vital resource for working families. In addition to childcare, the center will also serve as a meeting space for addiction support groups, further contributing to the well-being of the community. This project will generate 19 full-time equivalent jobs, supporting local employment and fostering a sense of community in the region.
By breathing new life into the former high school, the Calhoun Community Center is poised to become a cornerstone for Grantsville, promoting both social support and economic development.
