Walter and Marshae Smith first met in 2001 as high school sweethearts and have been married for seven years. In those seven years, Walter and Marshae have grown their family to include two sons and a dog. Their eldest son, at seven years old, is a Lego master and dinosaur connoisseur while their seven-month old son is full of personality and a true bundle of joy. As the Smith Family has grown, they realized that they were ready to take the next step and purchase a home.
“We decided that it was time to hit the ground running and make one of the most important moves, which is to buy a home,” said Marshae. In an effort to move forward, the Smith’s contacted Community Ventures and the rest is history.
Community Ventures is pleased to announce that Walter, Marshae, and their two sons will be the first family to purchase a new home on Cedar Street. The Smith’s home is the first of 25 homes that Community Ventures, in partnership with Louisville Metro and JP Morgan Chase, will be building on Cedar Street.
“We’re hopeful and excited for what’s to come in the area,” said Marshae when discussing the Cedar Street. Along with the homes, the City of Louisville revamped the infrastructure by installing new street lights, asphalt, gas, electric, sewer systems as well as new trees and grass.
Each home will be energy-efficient, market rate, and custom built. Buyers will have a wide range of choices including appliances, light fixtures, floors, paint colors, counter tops, marble vanities, tile, backsplash, and siding. There are four unique home plans for buyers to choose from, the first plan being named after the Smith Family, the “W. & M. Smith Family Design”.
“We had a great experience and everyone was so kind. Community Ventures really helped determine if the steps we were making were the right ones,” said the Smith’s. “The provided courses were extremely helpful and taught us a lot. Working with Myron and Marshall was a great pleasure! They were so attentive and made this such a smooth process.”
